Cinderella never had it so bad. In this darkly comedic retelling of the classic fairy tale, her woes become worse when she discovers she has leprosy. Being chosen as the prince's bride seems more unlikely than ever, but in a world where everything is turned upside-down, Cinderelleper, as she's now called, just might have a chance at a happy ending after all.

Cinderelleper is a scathing satire that mockingly combines elements of the sentimental 1950 Walt Disney animated film with the gruesomeness of the Grimm Brothers original tale. Outlandish plot twists take the story beyond parody and into a realm that is both dark and magically absurd.

Cinderelleper A Fairytale Satire eBook Ford Forkum

If you're sick to death of saccharine sweet fairy tales, this satirical little number is for you. Not only does Cinderella go through the usual wicked stepmother and stepsisters deal, but she gets diagnosed with a bizarre version of leprosy to boot. Still, she summons all her limbs and makes it to the ball--to court the Prince? Nah. She has other motives, but no spoilers here.

It's a quick read with snappy dialogue and astute societal commentary, as well as some blatant silliness. Don't read it to your children because it's got language/innuendo (no gore or sex). None of the characters come from Central Casting's usual line-up, and that makes for some fun twists. There's slapstick and sarcasm and an epilogue that's actually worth reading.

I knocked a star because some of the humor was a bit crass for me, but so much of the story was original and clever that I kept going. For the price, it's a great lunch-break read. Just be prepared to spurt soda out of your nose a few times when you laugh.

Cinderelleper A Fairytale Satire eBook Ford Forkum Reviews

I thoroughly enjoyed this twist on an old favorite, and found myself laughing quite a bit throughout. I loved the epilogue, which was another story in itself. Fun read, don't bring the kids.
Such a fun read! I read this in one sitting and absolutely loved it. I sure wish there were more books like this out there. If you like fractured fairytales, you'll really enjoy this one.
Laughs and chuckles all the way through. Just the bit of silliness I needed for the day. I think I got the watered down version of this story earlier in my life.
Cinderlleper, a name given to her by her evil stepmother when she`s diagnosed with leprosy early in the story, is a take off of the well-known fairytale. We’ve all seen the memes on line spoofing the Prince proclaiming, “Says you are the love of his life. Forgets what you look like and has to put a shoe on every girl in the kingdom.” Forkum takes that common sense sarcasm to an extreme writing a story more in the spirit of the dark and dangerous Grimm fairytale than the world of helpful mice and unfettered optimism of the Disney version.

Cinderlleper is a fun and fast read that whether you’re a fan of fairy tales or live to hate them, you’ll enjoy. Pick it up today
I've always liked fairy tales and this humorous adaptation of Cinderella is no exception. The protagonist falling apart (from leprosy) was somehow both intriguing and at times emotional. I laughed a great deal at the subtle surprises thrown into the traditional narrative; especially the fate of the wicked stepmother!
An adult fairytale Cinderelleper A FairyTale Satire by Ford Forkum
This author totally pulled off a play on the children's fairytale we all read. I knew there'd be a twist but dam. Poor Cinderelleper feared worse in this tale, she has leprosy!! The stepmother didn't have it bad in the regular story, this one she gets her due!!! I always wanted her to get hers!! It's funny, sad and absurd, that's what makes it a cool read. It's different, not serious or sappy. I Applaud the author for catching my attention.
I gave five stars because this is the author's genre and he's awesome at it.
As a true Fairy-Tale aficionado, I have to say the knock-offs are usually better than the original. This book is a funny version by humor writer Ford Forkum and it stays true to the classic version with stepsisters, a Fairy godmother and even magical mice. Of course, there's a prince who has to find a woman to marry, or else he’ll lose his dessert privileges for a week! Sadly, you’ll laugh at the way the doctor treats Cinderella after she’s diagnosed with an incurable disease, because the author is cleverly creating satire, and working our current despicable truths into comedy. Sadder still is the remark from the widowed stepmother who worries she’ll have to find another husband with a kid, so she doesn’t have to go back to doing housework. Yup, it’s that story, the one about Cinderella and a ball and a lost-um-glass slipper. The adult language would keep me from reading this to a child, but if your kids are still at home and over forty, I recommend it as a hilarious bedtime story.
